Imatest Partners with Aptina to Speed CMOS Sensor Configuration
There are no shortcuts in the process of CMOS image sensor configuration. There is only a myriad set of tasks: setting sensor registers; capturing images; conducting tests; and analyzing results – a cycle that is repeated again and again to achieve an ideal configuration. From medical devices to mobile-phone cameras to military targeting systems, CMOS image sensors support a diverse range of imaging applications. Each application carries its own set of challenges and complexities for product development engineers, who must configure the CMOS image sensor to deliver the optimal combination of digital image qualities, often having to trade off one image quality for another.
With the partnership of Imatest LLC and Aptina comes DevWare-enabled Imatest, a speedier way of configuring CMOS image sensors. For product development engineers, DevWare-enabled Imatest might well be the answer to the time thief: software technology that frees up time without compromising quality and testing thoroughness.
Imatest LLC, the world leader in digital image quality testing software, and Aptina, a world leader in CMOS image sensors, have joined forces to deliver an integrated software system that enables rapid, automatic testing of CMOS sensor image quality and subsequent re-configuration of image sensor settings. DevWare-enabled Imatest loads images directly from Aptina’s image sensor configuration software, DevWare. Images are then automatically analyzed across a host of digital image quality factors, providing product engineers with the information required to re-set sensor settings.
“The release of DevWare-enabled Imatest dramatically speeds the process of configuring Aptina’s CMOS image sensors and offers tremendous value to our customers,” said Shari Vedovato, Director of System Engineering at Aptina.
Echoed Imatest’s CEO: “By integrating DevWare with Imatest, we hope to reduce the time required for sensor configuration by an order of magnitude. We are thrilled to partner with Aptina and to enable their customers with this advancement in technology.”
