Imatest Partners with Davidson Optronics to Speed Video System Testing
Blink, and the world changes, an aphorism that is most true in the video systems industry, where the capture and flux of innovation always requires deft adjustment. In an industry where such change is a given, the only constant has to be unambiguous: the need for absolute clarity.
It is a constant that drives Davidson Optronics, whose TV Optoliner projection system enables design, assembly, setup, and repair of video systems. The TV Optoliner projects a crystal clear image of a test pattern onto the image sensor of a video system. The resulting display on the video system can then be evaluated to optimize system performance. Blink, and the world changes again – this time with the partnership of Imatest LLC and Davidson Optronics. Now comes a more thorough, objective way to evaluate video systems: a new test pattern called SFRplus and Imatest software that automatically analyzes the pattern.
Imatest LLC, the world leader in digital image quality testing software, and Davidson Optronics, a world leader in video sensor testing equipment, have joined forces to deliver an integrated system that enables rapid, automatic testing of video system image quality and subsequent re-configuration of system components and settings. Davidson Optronics' TV Optoliner now projects SFRplus test patterns that, in the blink of any eye, are automatically analyzed by Imatest software to assess sharpness, lateral chromatic aberration, and distortion. In addition, the TV Optoliner Colorbar/Greyscale test pattern, used to assess both luminance and color response, can be analyzed using Imatest's new vectorscope capability.
"The introduction of SFRplus and Imatest software dramatically speeds the process of testing video systems and offers tremendous value to our TV Optoliner customers," said Charles Gaugh, Technical Director at Davidson Optronics.
"People who use the TV Optoliner system will be delighted by the new SFRplus test pattern and the improvements in automation, objectivity, and speed it affords. Add to that our new software-based vectorscope to analyze Colorbar/Greyscale test patterns, and the resulting package should prove very attractive to TV Optoliner users,” added Randy Bockrath, chief executive officer at Imatest. "We are pleased to partner with Davidson Optronics and to enable their customers with this advancement in technology.
