Arbitrary Chart Definition – Part 1
Part 1 of our how-to series on Arbitrary Charts, the Imatest module that analyzes almost any chart layout, including your own custom designs. The video walks through describing a chart to Imatest: loading the image, choosing the chart definition file, and building that definition in JSON, using the IEEE P1858 combination chart as the example.
A chart definition gives the chart’s aspect ratio and background, then lists each feature with its position, size and rotation in normalized chart coordinates: registration marks for locating the chart, slanted squares and slanted edges for sharpness, and color and gray patches.

- Chart definition reference: every feature type and its JSON fields
- Using Arbitrary Charts to develop the P1858 Variation Combo Chart, and the P1858 Variant Combo Test Chart itself
Arbitrary Charts is included in Imatest Master and Imatest IT.
