Camera Integration Engineer, Hybrid, Boulder, CO
We’re seeking a Camera Integration Engineer to help expand and refine our image acquisition and device control capabilities. This role focuses on integrating new camera SDKs, designing robust acquisition APIs and ensuring seamless cross-platform performance within the Imatest software ecosystem.
You’ll work closely with our imaging science, hardware and software teams to connect diverse imaging hardware—industrial cameras, scientific sensors and embedded imaging platforms—to our analysis pipelines.

Responsibilities
- Design, implement and maintain the Imatest acquisition library and device manager components in C++ and MATLAB
- Integrate new camera SDKs and interfaces
- Develop modular APIs and abstraction layers for consistent device control across vendors
- Implement robust multithreaded capture pipelines and image buffers for high-throughput applications
- Collaborate with imaging scientists to enable camera-triggered acquisition workflows
- Write and maintain documentation, example code and unit tests for new device integrations
- Contribute to architectural decisions around device discovery, session management and configuration persistence
- Work with UI/UX developers to extend camera configuration interfaces within Imatest tools
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Imaging Science or related field
- 3+ years of experience developing software for imaging or hardware integration
- Proficiency in C++ (modern standards) and Python
- Experience with at least one camera SDK (e.g., FLIR Spinnaker, Basler Pylon, Allied Vision Vimba, IDS uEye or similar)
- Strong understanding of multithreading, memory management and API design
- Familiarity with cross-platform development (Windows, macOS and Linux)
- Excellent debugging, testing and version control (Git) skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with GenICam / GenTL, DirectShow and/or GStreamer
- Experience with image sensor bring-up, including use of sensor data sheets (e.g., register maps) and low-level interfaces such as I2C/SPI.
- Knowledge of image processing and/or computer vision frameworks such as OpenCV
- Familiarity with lighting control, trigger synchronization and/or multi-camera setups
- Understanding of RAW image formats, ISP pipelines and/or sensor calibration workflows
- Prior experience developing software for industrial, automotive and/or scientific imaging systems
- Knowledge of video encodings, formats, streaming formats, ffmpeg, etc.

Salary Range: $130,000-160,000 commensurate with experience
