- Improved Settings: With improved user experience: search for settings, navigate to different module settings, and save settings. These new settings replace the ROI Options, Options II, Options III in previous releases.
- Imatest Database: Store image metadata in the Imatest database. Open Image Preview to view EXIF data from your images, and Imatest will store the data.
- Image Preview Improvements: Now allows you to open any image that may not be visible in the main window otherwise. In addition, images now load and display faster than before, and minimap improvements allow for seamless movement around the image.
New Slanted Edge Based Measurements
- Information Capacity: is a fundamental figure of merit for imaging systems used for machine vision, artificial intelligence, robotics, and more. It quantifies the maximum amount of information that a pixel or the total image can contain. It combines sharpness and noise, using the classic Shannon-Hartley equation. Several closely-related figures of merit are also calculated.
- Ideal Observer Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNRi): an indicator of the detectability of small objects. It can be affected by image processing.
- Noise Power Spectrum (NPS): is the frequency spectrum of the noise power, used to calculate NEQ and SNRi. It is sometimes approximated as 1, but it can be calculated from the slanted-edge noise image.
- Noise Equivalent Quanta (NEQ): is a frequency-dependent signal-to-noise ratio, used in medical imaging. We are still learning its uses. When it is entered into the Shannon-Hartley equation, information capacity is a summary metric for NEQ.
Arbitrary Charts
- A new distortion parameter was added to the arbitrary charts module to support distorted targets. Users can upload a checkerboard image into charts utility to characterize the distortion then apply the measured parameters in arbitrary charts to realign the ROIs.
- Users can either combine selected frames for signal averaging, or users can load in a selected range for comprehensive batch analysis. For the comprehensive analysis, a JSON video analysis results file is created. The video results file includes Imatest Auto Exposure measurements and Auto Exposure analysis compliant with VCX Webcam 2023.
Stray Light
- Added ability to normalize by a user-provided value.
- Added ability to have separate masking settings for the reference image.
- Output pixel count above a threshold.
- Switches to median aggregation in reference image normalization.
- Added ability to directly use the image processing mask method.
- Added ability to set the threshold in image processing masking via Otsu's method.
- Added a minimum source threshold to the image processing method.
- Added other compensation factors for normalization via a reference image.
- Larger summary plots, updates to nomenclature.
Flatfield/EMVA 1288
Version 23.1 adds calculations for row, column, and pixel noise spatial variances to Flatfield interactive and fixed modules based on EMVA 1288 Version 4.0 Linear standard. Additionally, the corresponding PRNU and DSNU calculations for rows, columns, and pixels have been updated, and the residual temporal noise variance has been corrected.
Gamutvision
Incorporation of a color gamut viewer originally launched by Imatest in 2006. Gamutvision helps explore the behavior of ICC profiles to visualize gamut mapping and changes in color and tone when images are moved between different devices.
Improved SFRreg Detection
Improved SFRreg detection now uses an artificial intelligence model. The confidence threshold can be lowered to accommodate difficult to detect registration marks or it can be raised to prevent false detection.
Other Features
- Tour Mode starts from the welcome window to demonstrate the usage of the new main window.
- Improvement of default settings for slanted-edge region selection, stepchart ROI fill-factor and Delta-E 00 color correction.
- Color/tone: split plot improvement to include exposure-matched reference value.
- Offline Floating License Server: Allows deployment of concurrent licenses and virtual machines in an offline environment.
- IT/EXE: Improved command line interface.
